2011 Yearling Sale

Our annual Yearling Sale will continue in 2011. The good news is that the Rockhampton Jockey Club(RJC) has agreed to enter into a joint venture with us to promote the sale heavily this season.  This sale underpins the strength of the 2YO competition in CQ and supplies a valuable $130,000 race for the RJC's racing calendar.  It also supplies good value racing stock for all grades of racing in CQ and a 3YO Feature race for sale graduates next year will provide further incentive for owners to buy locally.

Final negotiations are underway right now with two major auction houses for the right to run the sale in 2011 and beyond. We feel that the future of the sale looks particularly bright at present given the interest shown in running the sale.

Vendors and buyers alike would be well advised to consider our sale next year as it produces a diverse catalogue and a strong local buying bench.

Local Breeding Industry

The CQ area has traditionally supported a strong and viable local breeding industry over a long period of time. Several local studs have supplied quality stallions for local breeders over the years that have produced many winning progeny for local, intrastate and interstate owners.

The exciting news for Queensland breeders is that local stud masters Jeff and Lea Marlow have added the very highly qualified "Changeintheweather" (USA) to their stallion roster at their Merlo Downs Stud for this season.  He is an exciting prospect and comes with proven breeding record that stands him out as something a bit special.
